I′ve been a huge fan of sports for as long as I can remember, but it really hit home for me when I tried to follow women′s soccer. I was excited to watch the games and support my favorite teams, but I noticed that the media coverage and sponsorships were nowhere near what the men′s leagues received. This made me wonder: how much do salary differences between male and female athletes actually affect the popularity of their respective sports? Do these disparities discourage young girls from pursuing careers in sports? It feels like there′s so much potential that isn′t being tapped into because of these financial inequalities.
